Background and Education

Dr. Yoon obtained his medical degree in his home state of Alabama at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in New York City at the NYU Medical Center and Hospital for Joint Diseases where he was faculty selected as Administrative Chief Resident.

He then completed fellowship training and board certification in Pain Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center specializing in multidisciplinary treatment approaches for acute and chronic pain.

Career

Dr. Yoon joined and became one of the original partners of the renown Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic utilizing his unique blend of training and skills in sports medicine, interventional pain medicine, physiatry, ultrasonography, image-guided procedures, and use of non-surgical biologic treatments in professional sports during its early stages of adoption.

He joined the staffs of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Lakers early in his career and through the years has continued to work with many professional sports agencies, teams, and organizations locally and across the country including the NHL Los Angeles Kings, MLB Los Angeles Angels, WNBA Los Angeles Sparks, and NHL Anaheim Ducks. He is a regular consultant with many teams and athletes associated with the NFL, AVP and FIVB pro beach volleyball, NWSL and MLS soccer, professional boxing including promotional companies such as Top Rank Boxing, and for mixed martial arts including the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Dr. Yoon regularly treats professional tennis players internationally on the WTA and ATP pro tennis tour and is a consultant to many athletes in collegiate sports and in the Olympics. He is currently the Head Team Physician to the LA Clippers NBA basketball team and Team Physician to the Los Angeles Angels MLB baseball team.

With experience in laboratory research with various biologic treatment research and development departments and with a clientele of professional athletes spanning the world, Dr. Yoon continues to collaborate with researchers and medical providers domestically and internationally to provide a comprehensive approach with second opinion consultations and treatment.


Honors & Memberships

Dr. Yoon is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Spine Intervention Society. He is a member of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Physician Association and Major League Baseball (MLB) Physician Association. He is annually listed as a Super Doctor in Los Angeles for his accomplishments in Sports Medicine.
